“It’s time to again welcome Australia’s best young surfers to the Gold Coast as we celebrate the 2026 Australian Interschools Surfing Championships.

This tournament attracts top-flight secondary school athletes chasing glory on the open surf breaks at Miami Beach. It is also proving a breeding ground for tomorrow’s world tour competitors, launching the careers of young male and female surfers from across the country.

Surfing is in our city’s DNA and our city’s major events calendar supports surfing at club, national and international level. Our partnership with Surfing Australia is greatly valued and I thank sponsors, officials and competitors for showing faith in the Gold Coast. We won’t let you down.

When the competition is over, forget your school books and stay a little longer to soak up everything on offer in Australia’s favourite holiday destination. As the saying goes: it’s time to Get Up and Gold Coast!“
